CENTENNIAL DAY FESTIVAL RECAP
JUNE 3, 2022
HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY LOOKOUT POINT!
What started out as an ordinary morning turned out to be the best celebration that the Club has ever seen, with over 300 members and guests in attendance. The day was filled with laughter, great conversation, and unmatched exuberance as the Lookout Point family gathered to celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime milestone. The evening came to a beautiful conclusion as families and friends gathered together to watch what was a spectacular fireworks display.
CENTENNIAL GAMES FOR KIDS & ADULTS
The festivities began in the afternoon, shortly after the staff finished their preparations around the course. Located around the property were a number of stations for our "Festival Passports", and all of the snacks and treats that you would expect to see. Attendants young and old were able to enjoy movie-style popcorn, snow cones, and even cotton candy!
On number 9, a series of games were laid out, which included: chipping into a target in the pond, a closest to the line drive game, disc golf, and two putting games. On the chipping green, there were two fun chipping games, one that involved chipping through, over, and under hula hoops, and an exciting chipping tic-tac-toe game that had everyone on their toes.
The games continued onto number 10 tee, which included corn hole, ladder toss, and a ring toss. These games, in addition to a scavenger hunt and a 'find the answers' component made up the Kids Centennial Day Festival Passport. The Adult's Passport also included stops at our vendor sponsor tents, Walter Caesar and Molson Vizzy.
Participants young and old had a blast completing their passports, and in total we had over 160 passports completed! The kids received a goodie bag and medal, and adults were entered into draws for prize baskets. Congratulations to our adult winners:
1) Libby O'Dell, 2) Roseanne Cole, & 3) Terry Wheatley.
IT EVEN FELT LIKE THE 1920s
Several of our members came in vintage attire, and did you know this about Swibby? Dave was proud to show his beautiful vintage 1928 Chevy Roadster Delivery Truck. What a treat for everyone. Thanks Dave!
UNVEILING OUR NEW CENTENNIAL DISPLAYS
Members and guests gathered as we unveiled our new Centennial Displays, including a display honouring Marlene Stewart Streit, and a cabinet dedicated to the Home of Champions with Lookout Point International, National, and Provincial Champions.

This special group, of international, national, and provincial champions put Lookout Point on the map in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. They were an important part of our 100-year celebration recalling fond memories of those days.
FESTIVAL FAMILY TIME
Shortly after everyone arrived the Food & Beverage team put on another deliciously displayed buffet that included BBQ pulled chicken, burgers, hot dogs, sausages, vegan burgers, all of the toppings you could ask for, potato salad, and a garden salad bowl with lots of tasty veggies—plenty of food for everyone.
OFFICIAL CEREMONY
The Official Ceremony was piped in by Bruno Frattoroli, with wonderful renditions of traditional bagpipe songs When Pipers Play, Highland Cathedral, Mull of Kyntyre, and Happy Birthday. You might have seen Bruno play in our anniversary video found here. His performance was wonderful and set the stage for the official ceremony that followed.
On the first tee, General Manager, Rob Hickson, and Club President, Peter DiLalla welcomed everyone and spoke about the joy and privilege of being a part of Lookout Point, and especially to be celebrating this special milestone. Golf Canada’s representative, Mike Dinner, presented Lookout Point with a special commemorative certificate for our 100-year achievement. Diane Girard, Chair of the Legacy Committee, then shared brief highlights of the club’s 100-year history.
Finally, we were all treated to brief comments from two of our distinguished guests, World Golf Hall of Famer, Marlene Stewart Streit, and Canadian Golf Hall of Famer, Cathy Sherk. They spoke about their time at Lookout Point over the years, gave us all some tips and insights into the game, and shared their fondest memories with Gord McInnis Sr. and Jr. It was truly a special moment in the evening.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT
Live music by Sandy Vine & the Midnights made the evening even more festive with dancing and cocktails while socializing with friends and family. We can't praise their performance enough! It was the perfect balance of classic and contemporary hits, all performed to perfection, and truly brought the whole event together. The 100th-anniversary birthday cake was served just as the sun was setting over the horizon, filling the sky with warmth, and colouring the clouds a delightful cotton candy pink.
FIREWORKS
The night was capped off with what was one of the most beautiful fireworks displays that many of us have ever seen. The perfect way to end a perfect day.
