It all started a hundred years ago…

… when a couple of gentlemen came together at what used to be called Observatory Hill.

They looked down at the sight that unfolded beneath them. To the north, views of Lake Ontario, in the south, Lake Erie, and there in the distance - nestled between the two - you could see the mist rising from the roars of Niagara Falls. In front of them, gentle rolling hills filled their view, with specks of farmhouses, barns, and gristmills sprinkled throughout - it was truly a sight to see.

106 acres of farmland were purchased and plans for a course of absolute championship calibre were laid out by an architect named Walter J. Travis. In a letter to the Board dated April 25th, 1921, Travis wrote,

“I can visualize with prophetic eye, the whole course in a finished state… and I am quite sure it will be one which we will be immensely proud of.”

Designs were drawn, fairways carved, and bunkers dug out. Greens were meticulously manicured to perfection and the stage was set for the next hundred years, for the place we now call home.
