Solheim Cup

Lookout Point Country Club Ladies have competed in a Solheim Cup event for the past 5 years.  The teams in the competition this year included Lookout Point, Bridgewater, Niagara on the Lake, Peninsula Lakes, Port Colborne, Rockway Vineyards, Rolling Meadows and St. Catharines Golf & Country Club.  The clubs are split into 2 divisions and play 4 times during the season, using different formats.  The winners of each division playoff at the end of the season for an overall winner.   LOPCC and NOTL were division winners. Each team hosted 18 holes in the finals and LOPCC won the overall championship.  The Solheim Cup is to be engraved and will sit in our Trophy Case at LOPCC through the 2020 season.  This year our winning ladies included Terry-Lynn Adamson, Tina Drummond, Trish Farrow, Mandy Garner, Jeanne Glavac, Sharon Greenwood, Dianne Haist, Sandy Jeffrey, Julie Kozub, Janice May, Joanna Maund, Laurie Robert, and Daleen Venter.  This is the second time in 5 years that LOPCC has won against tough competition. Please congratulate all of our participating ladies and in particular our Ladies Solheim captains Trish Farrow & Daleen Venter.

Ladies Tombstone

This past Sunday our Ladies section had their annual Tombstone golf tournament. This unique format puts pairs of players together and gives them a specific number of shots (based on their handicaps) to complete the golf course. Once the team runs out of shots they are “killed” and placed their tombstone where their last shot finished. Congratulations to the team of Julie Kozub & Linda Townsend who completed the course with an additional 8 strokes still to spare! Great playing ladies. The rest werent as fortunate as the 18th fairway, 17th green and even the 16th hole had a number of tombstones planted.
