MESSAGE FROM THE PROFESSIONAL STAFF
Good Afternoon,
Again, not the news we wanted to hear from the Province in yesterday’s announcement. For those of you who missed the announcement, Bob Weeks has summed it up rather well in an article published last night on TSN (linked here):
On Thursday, despite plenty of medical experts saying it could be played without harm and numerous city mayors pushing for re-opening, Premier Doug Ford dealt golf operations another blow by extending the shutdown until June 2.
He said that part of his reason for keeping courses closed was based on his knowledge that his pals who play golf aren’t following the rules.
“They pick up another buddy, two or three go out, go golfing, there’s nothing wrong with golfing,” Ford said during a news conference. “The problem is, then after golf they go back, they have some pops. That’s the problem.”
While it’s hard not to take comments like those above personally, we are dedicated more than ever to showing that we can provide a safe experience for you, our members, and your guests. Please continue to do everything in your power to stay safe over the next couple of weeks and know that there is a lot of golf left to be played this season.
We are trying our best to stay positive, and have heard a few comments about the “rounds we’ve lost” so far this year. For those who are interested, here are some numbers to consider. Last year (2020), by the end of May, we had played 2,783 total rounds of golf at Lookout Point Country Club. A small amount of the over 32,000 rounds that were played here in total in 2020. By comparison, in 2019 we hosted just over 25,000 rounds of golf (a year over year increase of 25% despite losing the start of our 2020 season) In 2021, we were able to play 1054 rounds in April which we missed out on in 2020. I know with the nice weather it really is hard to not feel like we are losing out, but with some luck and mother nature on our side we still have a great chance and lots of time left to play a lot of golf this season. We can’t wait to see the condition Aldo and his team have the course in when we are able to play!
In spite of the news above, we are excited to share what has been going on in the shop and what we are working on. Over the next few weeks we will be starting to put some of the apparel that has arrived in the shop on the online store - starting with Men’s Levelwear & Ladies FootJoy polos which are on special next week. Each week will feature a new brand with a brand promotion. Don’t miss a chance to stock up and save to start the season. We also want to help you get your swing ready for the June start to the season. Below you will find information on how to send us swing videos and we will be offering free personalized advice and/or tips over the next couple of weeks. We are also now accepting bookings for our Callaway fitting day on Sunday, June 6th (tentative date for obvious reasons) and we are updating our Golf Shop hours to include some added delivery options on Saturdays.

Golf Shop Hours
We have had more requests for delivery of golf shop goods than we originally anticipated. In order to help members “stay home” and avoid unnecessary trips out of the house, we are going to update our Golf Shop hours and add a dedicated delivery day - Saturday - each week. If you would like your items delivered, please indicate so on the appropriate check out field on the online store and/or contact the golf shop to let us know and we will add your order to the Saturday delivery schedule for that week. To limit mobility, we will be restricting delivery to locations within the Niagara Public Health Unit only. For the next 2 weeks the golf shop hours will be as follows:
Monday - Friday
9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Saturday & Sunday
Closed
Note: Local Deliveries will be dropped off between the hours of 10:00 am - 2:00 pm on Saturdays.
Orders that need to be picked up week days after 4:00 pm or on the weekend can be arranged to be left with the F&B department (Tuesdays - Saturdays) during their take-out hours.
Callaway Fitting Day - Sunday June 6th
Looking ahead to our June calendar we are going to start promoting a few of the events we had planned that have no impact on our tee sheet or our daily play. Back in March we hosted a number of fitting days and we were able to get many of our members brand new fitted clubs ready to start the 2021 season. As you may know, golf equipment demand is at an all time high and many companies are experiencing delays with getting products into golfers hands. As such, we don’t want to delay in promoting our upcoming fitting days and or push back our fitting days any later into the 2021 season than necessary.
We will be starting with Callaway on Sunday, June 6th. New to the lineup in 2021, Callaway have introduced an Epic line of woods featuring an improved version of their jailbreak system which improves ball speed from strikes over across the club face. Also new in 2021, are a new line of Apex irons (Apex, Apex Pro, Apex MB) and an update to the popular Big Berta series (BB21). For the ladies, Callaway have developed an all new product line of “Reva” woods & irons which have been designed with women in mind by adding improved lofts, swingweights, specific shafts and head shapes which are all optimized to help ladies hit tee shots a lot farther. Please note the current covid protocols & Click the button below to book your fitting.
COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
While the online scheduler makes it easy to keep the event organized and running smoothly, it also helps to keep everyone safe in this time of Covid-19 by making all fittings a 1 on 1 experience.
Ø Following appropriate CDC guidelines.
Ø Maintaining proper social distance and using masks and gloves.
Ø All fitting clubs and components being cleaned before/after every customer.
Ø Having hand sanitizer available for every fitting.
