Message From the Professional Staff,
Good Evening,
What a great August its been here at Lookout Point Country Club. The heat and humidity has been at an all time high, but Aldo and his team have done a fantastic job keeping the course in excellent playing condition. As we look ahead to September, we want to take a minute and recognize some accomplishments that we may have missed over the past couple of newsletters. Starting with Isaiah Ellis (2019 Junior Boys Club Champion) who shot 7 under through three days at the Ontario U17 Championships to finish in 2nd place. Great playing Isaiah. Our Professional Staff are also in fine form! At the most recent Niagara Professional Tour stop at Whirlpool Golf Course our own Adam Steinschifter shot 67 for the win - A sign of things to come for our eventual LP Cup champion later that week.
A number of members have asked about more club fitting opportunities. Cobra will be back on site Friday, September 10th. Fittings are by appointment only. To book yours, please contact Tim Levert at theprofessionalstaff@lopcc.com
September will be a busy month at the club as we host a number of events and ramp up to the closing of our Men’s & Ladies leagues. The club calendar has now been updated - here is a brief rundown of what to expect and it’s impact on the daily tee sheet.
Wednesday, September 8th - Wise Guys Charity Tournament - Course is closed, however, there will be potential for member tee times after the event (starting time will be determined after we have received the final draw from wise guys)
Friday, September 10th & Saturday, September 11th - Quad Canadian Teams. This year the Quad celebrates its 98th playing. With the border closed, our team will be unable to compete at Lockport. To continue our support of this nearly century old competition, we have offered to host the 18 players from St. Catharines Golf & Country Club to play a match against our team from Lookout Point. This should have minimal impact on the daily tee times. There is a chance that St. Catharines Golf & Country Club will host on Saturday, the 11th (Details to come).
Sunday, September 12th - Ladies Tombstone. Registration is now open for the Ladies Tombstone tournament. This is a “can’t miss” event on the Ladies social calendar. 12:30 pm starting tee times.
Monday & Wednesday, September 13th & 15th - Our corporate charity event for September and our Senior Invitational have been cancelled. Instead, we will welcome two small 40 person golf & lunch events in their place, allowing us to provide more tee time availability to the membership.
Thursday, September 23rd - Men’s League Closing (Details to come)
Saturday, October 2nd - Closing Field Day (Details to come)
Tuesday, October 5th - Ladies Closing Dinner

RANGE CLOSED
The Practice Range will be closed on Monday, August 30th for the regular monthly maintenance. If possible, we will attempt to open the range in the evening once the grounds crew have completed their work.
LADIES MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
On Tuesday, August 24th our Ladies section competed in the Memorial Tournament - a two person better ball event. Congratulations to the team of Bonnie Shaw & Linda Townsend on a fantastic round of 63 (10 under par). Congratulations are also in order to Nancy Dobson who won the Bliss Cup & Green Jacket for the longest drive on hole #3.
The Memorial Tournament is not only a chance to socialize and get together with current members, but also an opportunity to look back to the past - share stories of influential members who have made their mark at Lookout Point Country Club in various ways. We were thrilled to have some special guests join for lunch. These guests were the reason Lookout Point Country Club came to be known as the “Home of Champions”. Marlene Stewart Streit, Cathy Sherk & Anne Sharpe shared stories of growing up playing golf at Lookout Point and the impact that the club, its’ members & its’ professional staff had in their lives.
As we look ahead to our 100th anniversary in 2022, you will see more of these stories brought to life through our various multi media offerings.
