MESSAGE FROM THE PROFESSIONAL STAFF
Good Evening,
It has been a great week here at the club, seeing a number of our members back enjoying the SIM room. As of writing this, our March bookings in the room are nearly at capacity. We will be adding some additional hours for the first couple weeks of April soon, so stay tuned or check under the link in member central for real-time availability.
The sunshine has been a welcomed sight and the snow is beginning to melt down on the 18th fairway (can you spot our newest members?)
In this week’s newsletter we are pleased to introduce a brand new team member to the Golf Shop staff, open up bookings for our upcoming Cobra fitting day and launch our first PGA Pool of the season (Player’s Championship)
Also in this week’s newsletter we begin the start of our 4 week “Golf Swing Fundamentals” series, and I (Dan Roud) will teach you how a “cook” can help with your alignment. Apologies in advance for the suspect audio quality - I’ve ordered and received a proper bluetooth lapel mic so those issues will be fixed in upcoming coach’s corner episodes.
This week our “Meet the Team” staff member is Tim Levert. Tim will be joining the Golf Shop team on a full time basis and we are thrilled to have him. Please join me in giving him the warmest of Lookout Point welcomes!
On behalf of the Professional Staff,
Dan Roud
Golf Shop Manager
PGA of Canada
Where are you joining LPCC from?: I am joining the LPCC team after a great two seasons at Port Carling Golf & Country Club located in the heart of Muskoka.
Where did you grow up playing/learn to play golf? I kind of stumbled into the game after attending a few junior camps at 9 or 10 years of age at the Oakville Golf Learning Centre which unfortunately no longer exists today. My parents had always played golf and my dad had really hoped to get me a little more involved with the help of these junior camps, however, baseball took precedent up until I went off to college. Lo and behold, two years of culinary school and a career pivot lead me back to golf where I have spent the last four years working hard on my game. During this time I also graduated with a Business Administration degree in Golf Management from Georgian College.
Over/Under 3.5 – How many 3 putts will you make your first round at LPCC?: This is definitely a loaded question. Having never played LPCC and being told about some of the adventures our Professional Staff have taken out there I'll take the over. I Just have to hope and pray my wedges and lag putting show up.
If you could play any course in the world, what would it be?: This list goes on and on but for me it would be Tara Iti Golf Club in New Zealand. From the landscape, to the design to the exclusivity; it looks like the full experience before you even step foot on the property.
What is your most memorable golf moment (either personal or viewed on tv)?: The list of Tiger moments goes on and on but having really taken an interest to watching the PGA Tour a little more intently, his 2019 masters win is an all timer. Being with a group of friends who enjoy the game as much as I do and being able to watch one of the greatest comeback wins in all of sports is something I'll take with me for the rest of my life. Plus the hug he gave his son walking off 18 could not have been more picture perfect even if they scripted it.
What is a Golf related accomplishment you are most proud of?: I have worked extremely hard through some highs and lows the last few years to bring my golf game to where it is right now. When I showed up at Mad River as green as could be in 2018, I was consistently shooting in the low to mid 90s with no hope of getting away from the banana slice. Fast forward to this past season and I shot a career low of 76 from the back tees at Port Carling G&CC that started with ripping off 4 birdies on the front, 3 of which were on the first 3 holes.
Who is/was your favorite golfer?: Tiger without a doubt. He's obviously had some rough patches with what has gone on outside the golf course, but what he has done for the sport of golf is tremendous and he is the reason still to this day a lot of juniors or beginners have gravitated to the game.
What are some of your goals for the 2021 season?: Game related; continuing to drop my handicap and learn from the great group of professionals around me. Between the technology, certifications and understanding of the game that exists within the team at LPCC, I hope 2021 is a year where I can really feed off that and develop my game even further with the goal of becoming a member of the PGA of Canada during this season. Outside the game; I look forward to getting involved in as much learning as I can this year to provide the best experience possible for any member or guest that steps on property at LPCC.
What are you most excited about in joining the team at LPCC?: From the initial conversations with Dan & Adam to the weekly golf team meetings, there has been a level of charisma and positivity that radiates the moment you walk through the front door. Every team member I have had the pleasure of meeting so far, regardless of department, has been welcoming with nothing but positive communication and comradery. Overall, I think that speaks greatly to the positive culture present at LPCC and I look forward to hitting the ground running and becoming a cohesive member of the team.
What’s in the bag for 2021? (Pending some tinkering)
Dr - Cobra Rad Speed
3w - Cobra Rad Speed
3h - Cobra Rad Speed
4i - Cobra Forged Tec
5-pw - Cobra MIM Tour
50,54,58 - Cobra MIM Wedges

What’s something our members would find most interesting about you?
Even with 7 years' experience in the kitchen and 2 years of schooling for it, my girlfriend, without fail, will cook me under the table 8 days a week. That said, a hot BBQ and a cold beer is my happy place and I am a lover of all things steak.
Down the Middle,
Tim Levert
Cobra Fitting Day
Sunday, March 21st
We are thrilled to announce our 2nd fitting event of the season on Sunday, March 21st. Cobra will be on-site to showcase and fit our members for everything in their 2021 lineup. If you have been watching social media or following any of the equipment releases online, you will already know that the Cobra driver (Radspeed) is among the best performing drivers of the year - recently ranking #3 on My Golf Spy’s most wanted Drivers of 2021. It doesn’t hurt that all that performance is packed into a package nearly $100 cheaper than the competitors. Click on the button below to book your Cobra fitting in the SIM room at LPCC.
