MESSAGE FROM THE PROFESSIONAL STAFF
Good Afternoon,
It’s starting to feel like the season is right around the corner! We hope everyone had a chance to get outside this week and enjoy some of the nice weather this past Tuesday & Wednesday.
It’s been a busy week both in the SIM room and downstairs as we start to put the Golf Shop together for the 2021 season. Our spring inventory is starting to trickle in and we hope to be able to show you some great new products sooner rather than later.
We are pleased to announce another added March fitting day on Sunday, March 28th featuring Taylormade. Now is also a great time to stock up on Golf Balls for the season, and we have Buy 3, Get 1 Free (dozens) available with free personalization from Titleist, Callaway & Taylormade. More information is in the newsletter below.
Week 2 of our 4 week fundamental series focuses on “Posture & Stance”. Make sure to watch the whole video for a little “outtake” as we test our new bluetooth mic ;)
This week our “Meet the Team” staff member is Taylor Simoneau. Taylor has been away at school in Delaware, playing Division 1 golf as a member of the Delaware State Women’s Golf Team (GO HORNETS!!!)
On behalf of the Professional Staff,
Dan Roud
Golf Shop Manager
PGA of Canada
How long have you been at LPCC?: 2 years - this will be my 3rd
Where did you grow up playing/learn to play golf? Beechwood and Twenty Valley when I was young, and then St. Catharines G&CC when I was a teenager
If you could play any course in the world, what would it be?: Augusta National
What is your favorite golf moment?: Tie between Jordan Spieth’s “go get that” (purely because of the “I can’t believe he just said that factor, it was hilarious) and Tiger’s comeback 2019 Masters win (because that shows that your game is NEVER gone and you can always comeback/rebound)
What is a Golf related accomplishment you are most proud of?: I’m really proud of finishing T5 or better in 4/5 college events that I played in my last fall season and my hole in one at Galt :)
Who is/was your favorite golfer?: Jordan Spieth for a male player, Brooke Henderson for a female
What are some of your goals for the 2021 season?: In general, hoping to get more consistent off the tee and dial in my short game. In regards to school events & competitions I’m looking to average in the mid 70s !!
What’s in the bag for 2021? All Titleist clubs and a Scotty Cameron putter (TS2 driver & 3 wood, 818 H1 hybrid, AP3s, SM 7&8 wedges, Squareback)
Favorite thing on the LPCC menu? The classic chicken fingers and fries LOL :)
From the “Green” room…
The Golf Course has had an exceptional winter. Earlier this week, we removed tarps on 1, 3, 5, 8, 12, 13, 15 & 18 (the 3rd and 5th green are pictured below). The tarps have been replaced on these greens in lieu of -9* celsius temperatures coming our way. All of them have wintered very well. On hole #7 we still had 4-6” of snow and Ice underneath as of Thursday, March 11th. In the picture below you will see our staff working to shovel a path to help the snow/ice melt. Also included is an “after” photo from earlier today where you can see result with the snow and ice melting the way we hoped it would. If you’ve been up in the SIM room you can see that Hole #10 still has the last snow to melt. We hope everyone has been enjoying the warmer temperatures this week and we look forward to sharing more updates on the course conditions as we get closer to our 2021 opening.

Course Superintendent

Not only are your professionals available for individual lessons, but we have created a host of clinic and programs to suit golfers of all skill levels and abilities.
Starting in May, every week there is a topical clinic for you to participate in for as little as $25. Topics include “Short Game Tuneup”, “Knock it close clinic”, “The putting fix” and more. Our junior program has be revamped and improved for 2021 with the addition of a Junior “Birdies” program for the young (5-8 yr old) aspiring golfer. Back this year is our popular Operation 36 program - now titled “Junior Eagles” which is a fantastic and fun approach to goal setting and competition.
