WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE GOLF SHOP - EPISODE 15
Message from your Professional Staff at Lookout Point Country Club
Good Evening,
Today’s professional message is a short one. We are fast approaching our first member events of the season - the Sr & Jr Club Championships (July 25th & 26th) & the Men’s & Ladies Club Championships (August 1st, 2nd & 3rd). A couple of friendly reminders from our Games Committee:
Please ensure you are entering your qualifying scores for Handicap purposes. This includes all scores posted in any league play or competition play.
We have had a few questions regarding the definition of a “holed” ball in respect to our pin caddy system on our flagsticks. The Pin Caddy should be treated as an extension of the flagstick. The R&A published a document titled “COVID 19 - Updated Guidance on the Rules of Golf”. In the document it states under the Definition of Holed that if any provisions are used (such as our pin caddy system) “Treating a ball as Holed when it has bounced out of the hole for any reason (for example, when it has bounced off the flagstick, a tray attached to the flagstick or the hole liner)” is NOT in accordance with the Rules of Golf.
If you have registered for any of the Club Championships you can expect more information to come to you in the next few days regarding any impact that our COVID protocols will have on the championship weekend(s).
Sincerely,
Your Lookout Point Professional Team
LOOK WHAT OUR MEMBERS ARE DOING…..PART 6
Shooting Your Age…
Well….maybe I was a week early in giving Kudos to Des Brady for nearly shooting his age - because later in the week he did just that while firing a fantastic 71. Great shooting DES!
Making Aces…
Another week - Another ACE
This week it was Lookout Point Junior member Kian Oelofse, who on July 14th made the 1st Hole in One of his young career on the par three 8th hole! Great shooting Kian - one of many to come!
Go Flashes…
Congratulations to our own Luke Delgobbo on his recent commitment to NCAA Division 1 program Kent State. Through the 2018–19 season, the Flashes (Kent State) have won 28 conference titles, which includes two championships won as a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference prior to 1951. The 26 MAC titles are the most men's golf titles in conference history and the most conference titles among any sport at Kent State. In addition to their conference titles, Kent State has made 34 appearances in the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships, winning three regional championships and advancing to the championship rounds 20 times. The program's highest national finishes are a tie for 5th in 2012, 6th in 2008, and 9th in 2000. Through 2019, Kent State has produced 25 MAC medalists
The Head Coach of the Kent State Men’s Golf team is Canadian and former PGA Tour Player Jon Mills. Notable alumni from Kent State include 2003 British Open Champion Ben Curtis, as well as current Canadian PGA Tour players Mackenzie Hughes & Corey Conners.
